6th Anniversary
Issue.
With this issue of Racing World we complete our 6th year of publication, covering the exciting world of Equine sport – horse racing, polo and other equestrian events. Having moved into unchartered territory in August 2003, we are happy to have established ourselves in this niche market providing enthusiasts of the sport with comprehensive information, detailed reviews, timely previews, profile interviews, news and views, breeding and pedigree updates, racing statistics and lots of interesting racing information. Polo has been an intrinsic part of Racing World and we have tried to cover as many events as possible during the polo season. Over the past six years we have had writers from around the globe show interest in writing for Racing World and this has added a new dimension with an international perspective. Promoting all aspects of equine sport is our objective and we hope that those connected with the sport will contribute with ideas that will invoke more interest to those already involved with the sport as well as to attract new entrants to the game. We take this opportunity to thank all our supporters, advertisers, subscribers, contributors and the racing fan in general who have supported us this far. As we commence our 7th year of publication we look forward to your continued support.

Safari annexes Calcutta Fillies Trial Stakes

In recent times we have heard of hurricane Gustav, Ike & Josephine; but while these were making their presence felt across the Atlantic, The Hurricane (Senure - Untold Story) was kicking up a storm closer to home at the Pune track. He started his career in a promising way, notching up four victories before facing the starter in the 1400m race, having already matched strides with the some of the best of his age group. However, there was a bit of a lull after his last victory where he beat Avec Plaisir. After his sojourn in Hyderabad, he was shifted to the care of Cooji Katrak and under his tutelage this Manjri Stud bred gelding put up a great show in The Solaris Group Turf Club Trophy (Gr.3), where he faced a tough field of 14 runners while receiving sufficient support to emerge the favourite.

Impressive Wish
wins a thriller

The newly introduced Calcutta Juvenile Sprint race for three-year-olds had only eight speed merchants in the fray. It was Aveline who was better supported than her seven rivals on her South India form where she had made a winning debut in the just concluded Bangalore Summer Season. Form pointed to the success of Aveline, but she was a total flop and finished last but one. On the other hand, it was D. K. Ashish who was at his best astride the Aarti Doctor tutored-Impressive Wish (Warrshan-Rainbow Flash) who literally snatched victory from the jaws of  defeat.
