The 2011 elections to the committee of the R.W.I.T.C. saw twelve candidates enter the fray which lent some interest to its outcome. We have always wanted to do a preview to the elections but as the final list of nominees kept changing till the last minute, it was practically impossible to do so. We sent out a questionaire to those elected to the committee for the year 2011/ 2012, and to those that lost election, and we really appreciate the effort taken to reply to them, which highlights their role as a committee member along with their goals and objectives for the coming year. Understanding the urgent need to tackle the ever increasing taxation on betting, the renewal of the license to conduct racing, and the lease renewal which comes up in 2013, the immediate need for new stabling and a host of several important issues, this feature highlights the steps initiated and the ongoing attempts being made....
ELECTED CANDIDATES
Mr. Vivek Jain Chairman of the Club Well done! You have topped the list with the maximum number of votes. What are your plans for the coming year? It’s going to be a difficult and challenging year. My focus will

Was the result up to your expectation?
What do you see as the future for the club?

... and more questions with their answers
Mr. Shivlal Daga You resigned last year and that took the racing fraternity by storm as it came at a very crucial time when a decision on the Boldenone matter was being taken? I resigned as I did not agree with the decision in Mr. D’Mello’s case taken by an overwhelming majority of my colleagues. I believe that drugs need to be stamped out and repeated offenders should not be mollycoddled. In a democracy, the wishes of the majority are paramount but those who do not agree also have a right of protest and to disassociate themselves from the decision. As Chairman I found it galling to
pronounce a verdict I did not at all believe in. To my mind I could not resign as Chairman and yet remain a Steward so I resigned from both posts. It was a coincidence that the D’Mello case happened just before the Boldenone cases. Details have been put by me on the net [Indiarace.com] at that time itself.
Are you happy to be back on the committee?
How long have you been working on the committee?
Are you happy with the outcome of the elections?
